The state of Delaware had won an Oscar moment in the spotlight, a native of Wilmington Luke Matheny best short film with his thesis film at New York University.

Matheny directed and starred in the movie by 19 minutes "God of Love."

Stage at the Kodak Theater Sunday night, Matheny joked that he got a haircut for the event. He jumped in front of the cameras with a mass of curly hair.

The 35-year-old thanked his teachers at NYU, parents and "the great state of Delaware" in his acceptance speech, among others. The Concord High School graduate and his home noted in his film.
