Tampa, Fla., Jan. 29 (UPI) - A Florida woman married to a military intelligence officer shot and killed his son while driving home from football and then killed his daughter, police said.
Julie Ecker, 50, with first-degree murder, was charged, reported the Tampa Tribune. After it was posted on Friday, she was sent to Tampa General Hospital for treatment of an illness and was in intensive care, police said.
A spokesman for police said Ecker told officers the children were "insolent and she was sorry."
Ecker allegedly shot his son, Beau 13, Thursday afternoon, with a gun they bought a few days. When she returned home in a gated community in Tampa Palms, she killed her daughter, Calyx, 16, who was present with their homework.
Pat Powers, the mother Ecker, who lives in Texas, called hours later and police said she was worried because her daughter did not answer the phone. Officers who went to the house found Ecker, covered in blood on the steps.
She had a long list they had planned to kill their children and myself.
Her husband, Colonel Parker Ecker was given to U.S. Central Command in Qatar.
