Greensboro, NC - After two years of ups and downs, Alissa Czisny raised again at the top of figure skating in the United States on Saturday, bringing elegant and almost perfect to win their second national championship.
From the moment the last note of their music, Czisny could not stop smiling. And with good reason.
The top three skaters - Czisny, Rachael Flatt and Mirai Nagasu - had separated off in the long program with a single point. But Czisny was the night she the best evidence by a landslide victory with a score of 191.24 points. She beat Flatt (183.38) by almost 8 percentage points and Nagasu (177.26) by nearly a 14th
"I knew exactly what I had to do," said Czisny. "Before each jump, I thought I was here and what were my goals. I fought for everything."
Czisny, which is at 23 a veteran in comparison with others, had to beat Nagasu and Flatt - two former national champions - national championships, the first American woman to win more than Michelle Kwan ended his reign of eight consecutive titles in 2005 .
Nagasu, 17, 2008 national champion, had hoped that you will. At last year's Olympics in Vancouver, she was the top ranking among U.S. women in fourth. But on Saturday, it was only good enough for third.
Nagasu, the erosion of the reputation of his long program, came skating family first. But when she heard his guests Saturday she could not hide their disappointment. In kiss-and-cry, frowned and fell on her.

"I can not believe I mixed up on a spin! A spin," she said, adding that she had left her nerves the better of him.
The U.S. has qualified just two points in the women's world championships in March, so do Nagasu Trip to Tokyo. Instead, Flatt, national champion last year's finalist and this year to join Czisny.
Flatt, last, also had errors in some of his jumps in the freestyle.
"I think I was a little tired," she said. "I had to skate quite late, which was a bit harsh."

Crushed Czisny was leaving the sport, but his mentor, former Olympic champion Brian Boitano, persuaded them not. Given their performance Saturday, she was happy to take his advice.

Caitlin and John Coughlin Yankowskas won his first national championship in the event pairs, scoring 188.45 points. Coughlin finished the year in tears, burying her face in his hand Yankowskas.
