David Frye, a comedian known for his impression of Nixon, President Richard M., died at age 77 in Las Vegas. The New York Times reported that he died of cardiopulmonary arrest.
He gained national fame in the '60s and early '70s with his impressions of politics. During the Nixon administration when he really gained popularity. He was regularly on television, and heading in the clubs.
He recorded four albums of humor in the early 70's, all led by Nixon in the title. For example, his 1970 album was titled I'm the president and his album was 1973, Richard Nixon: A Fantasy.
Frye told Esquire magazine in 1971: "I do Nixon by copying its actual actions, but by a sense of his attitude, the president, he could not believe it really is."
He is survived by his sister, Ruth.
