Jimmer Fredette scored 43 points as No. 9 Brigham Young passed the No. 4 San Diego State its first defeat of the season, 71-58 on Wednesday night in Provo, Utah.
The top scorer in Division I for 14 to 24 on the field, including 5-for-8 from three-point line and 10-of-11 shots from the free throw line was BYU (20-1, 6 -0 Mountain West).
The Aztecs led, 38-35, to give early in the second half, when Fredette seven straight points, scored the Cougars the lead for good.
Down six with 3:30 remaining SDSU began to foul Fredette, who made last seven free throws, putting away the game
Kawhi Leonard had 22 points for SDSU (20-1, 5-1).

No. 6 Texas A & M 80, No. 13 Oklahoma 78: Daniel Adams (31 points) hit the decisive free throws with 7.6 seconds to Texas A & M (18-1, 6-0 Big 12) . Danielle Robinson scored 33 for Oklahoma (15-4 5-1).
Status of Women
Buffalo 92, Central Michigan 89: Shonda Long added 29 for host CMU (7.12, 4-3 MAC). Kourtney Brown had 33 points for Buffalo (10-10, 3-4).
