Three teams identical 7-5 records overall. Three bowls in the middle of Big Ten programming Alliance.
That's what we wonder what will happen Sunday night.
The Michigan football team should obtain their goal of post-season tonight (8 Clock, Big Ten Network), with the Tampa Outback Bowl, the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, Florida, and the Insight Bowl in Phoenix all possibilities.
Several analysts have said the college football last week, they believe that the Wolverines did not slip past bowls in Florida, but Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon, said Saturday he received no inside information.
"I do not know," he said. "I'll find out tomorrow night probably at some point when they call me."
The Big Ten will almost certainly send two teams in the BCS and Capital One Bowl loss to the third team to get to the conference. Outback representative of the next collection by the Gator and Insight accepted.
How to get the shells is not inevitable.
"That's really an unprecedented year with the same three teams at the top, everything in the middle with identical records," said Insight Bowl representative Andy Bagnato.
"For me, the definition of equilibrium for a conference. It is for many interesting possibilities. "
Penn State, Iowa and Michigan ended the season 7-5. The Nittany Lions and Hawkeyes finished 4-4 in regular season, while the Wolverines finished 3-5. Michigan has lost both face-to-face.
These are not necessarily the Wolverines picked last - not a bowl officials must choose their schools based in the ranking order.
Hunger in Michigan for one season - the Wolverines have not reached a bowl since the 2007 season - combined with a large base of alumni to make the school a popular choice for progress in the Big Ten bowl scale.
The Outback is not hosted Michigan since 2003. The possibility of a game based in Tampa bites Denard Robinson, a native of Florida, against a team from the SEC is an attractive option.
Of course, Michigan is not the Phoenix since 1986, when he played in the Fiesta Bowl and Nebraska visits. Could there be a repetition of this game in 2010, serving as an overview of the Cornhuskers to enter the Big Ten?
"We can not even speculate," said Bagnato. "We are waiting to see what they do in front of us. ... We have some great options, and Michigan is one of them."
