Hanukkah is a "celebration of freedom"

It's not about gifts or gold. For the family of Lake Zurich Hirschel Hanukkah is to celebrate freedom.
Mia Herschel lit the first candle in the menorah Wednesday night with her husband and daughter the prelude of the first eight days of long holidays.
"We try to focus on the meaning of the feast more gifts," says Hirschel. "Light the candle is freedom and recognition of victims that have been made over the years."
